EXPLORE Green Hill Cemetery Trees and Shrubs ANYTIME!

Wander around Green Hill's 51-acres and read professional labels on over 700 trees and shrubs to learn the plant's botanical Family, Genus, Species, Common Name, and native origins.

Or from your computer or cell phone visit  http://arcg.is/1eiPS8  to access a City of Greensboro Geographical Information System (GIS) application introducing you to those 700 trees and shrubs.

This tree inventory project reflects the combined efforts of a professional botanist volunteer, City of Greensboro GIS staff, and City of Greensboro Cemetery staff, facilitated by Friends of Green Hill Cemetery (FoGHC). Thanks to all who've made Green Hill Cemetery a sort of "accidental arboretum!"

TIPS for TOUR-GOERS

  • All tours are hosted by Friends of Green Hill Cemetery (FoGHC) volunteers.  Tour fees and donations benefit Green Hill Cemetery.
  • Optional tour booklets are available for purchase on-site for an additional $5.
  • Walking tours are weather dependent.  Volunteer tour leaders may  reschedule or may simply cancel tours in bad weather.  To confirm a tour will proceed in "iffy" weather, visit this web page and/or visit  FACEBOOK.

2020 Purely Botanical Walking Tours!

Professionally lead botanical walking tours of Green Hill Cemetery are lead by a  Botanist each spring and autumn.  These tours often last up to three hours and are not planned far ahead because their dates depend on leaf conditions.  These tours require reservations, are limited to 25 persons, and are announced at the Friends of Green Hill Cemetery FACEBOOK site.    https://www.facebook.com/groups/52050422262/
2020 Virtual Tours (PowerPoint presentations)

35-45 minute PowerPoint presentations can be arranged for groups that prefer not to walk. You provide the presentation location and:
1- an HDMI-capable flat screen TV  or
2- a laptop projector and projection screen onto which we can project our presentation.

A Friends of Green Hill Cemetery (FoGHC) volunteer brings a laptop computer and our PowerPoint presentation.  For these "virtual tours" (PowerPoint presentations) the cost is $5/person with a minimum of 10 persons.   To request that a volunteer provide a presentation to your group, contact    [email protected]
